Getting Sore with Longer Runs…Try this Cool Exercise!

Wednesday, May 21, 2014

Hey RIF REVers,
Great catching up with the Awesome Runner crew that did The Great Ocean Road this week. Congrats again guys! All the long runs are rapidly approaching and there are a lot of you telling me about achy knees, backs and calves as you increase distance. If this is happening to you it’s probably a combination of mechanics and strength with postural muscles fatiguing as you run further. You want to do as much as possible to optimise core strength leading into your run so in this video Ang shows you a really cool core exercise to integrate glute, abdominal and even upper body stability. Make sure you’re comfy at all times. Any history of injury, health conditions or lower back issues check with doc before you start. Bet you haven’t done this one before and it’s awesome for your running. It’s definitely harder than it looks!!
Enjoy RIF REVers,
Talk soon,
Paul Trevethan
