Don’t Let Achilles Pain Drive You Nuts!

Monday, June 23, 2014
Hey RIFREVers,

We had fun catching up with running friends at Southbank parkrun over the weekend. Been a while! Good to be back. Had a lot of people lately asking me for more information about Achilles pain so I thought I would do a video on some of the specific issues that can cause Achilles pain with running and how to get down to the nitty gritty for tackling it. One simple key is to check your shoes and particularly the soles. Be aware of how flexible they are through the forefoot. Some shoes can be quite rigid in that region so they don’t flex so well which means you have to use calf and Achilles to ‘push’ the shoe which can be a silent killer for ankles and achilles. It’s good to also know a few key points that refer into this area and I show you three specific spots to target in order to be systematic with Achilles pain. Remember comfy at all times guys and anything puffy, swollen, warm, red don’t touch, get to doc!

Have a good Monday RIFREVers!
